AudioTools on Mac

We can confirm the exciting news that AudioTools (and our other apps) are now available for download from the Mac App Store on the new awesome M1 Macs! This includes the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13, new iMacs, and the new Mac Mini. I have a MacBook Air with the M1 chip, and it is truly amazing. Much faster than my 2-year old MacBook Pro development machine.�

Everything runs great, other than a few minor display bugs that we will fix soon. The basic interface is very similar to the iPad, except that you can stretch and shrink the app window, or even run it full screen!

Any audio device that works with Mac can be used as input, you just select the input source from the Mac System Preferences panel.

And best of all, you don't have to pay a thing to run AudioTools there, your app purchase and in-app purchases all transfer for free! We're very excited to be able to offer a solution for laptop and desktop machines, and as Apple rolls out more models with the M1 chip we will continue to support them.

New!� LARSA Now Supports External Test Signals, works with Atmos

We've added the ability for LARSA to use an external chirp signal, so you don't have to connect your iOS device to your sound system . Check out the LARSA page for more information. And, since Surround Generator now has the LARSA test signal, you can run LARSA on your Atmos home theater system.

Dolby Atmos 9.1.6 Signals available in Surround Generator (Apple TV)

It's been our goal to add Atmos system testing to the AudioTools platform, and we are now happy to announce that we have added full support for Atmos 9.1.6 audio surround test signals in our Apple TV Surround Generator app.�

Route pink noise, polarity test, Impulse, and Sweeps to any channel, either on the main 9 channels, the 6 ceiling channels, or the subs. Use these signals with AudioTools to set up your system, or to test that the system was installed properly. You can also find out exactly what your processor is doing with signals that do not have speakers.� Apple TV 4K is required for Atmos signals.

What's New:

iPad Pro (USB C models) Now Approved for USB Audio

The USB audio support on the USB C iPads had serious problems, but the worst of them seem to fixed now. The labelling of USB audio devices as�"headset mic" has been fixed, as has the incorrect USB gain issue. These models are now full compatible with our USB microphones, uTestMic and uPrecisionMic. Please make sure you update your iPad to the latest iOS 13 release.

However, some problems are still remaining:

• No support for legacy MFi products, even with adapters.� iTestMic2 �and� iPrecisionMic �will not work at all, even with an adapter. No plans to add this, according to Apple.
• No support for USB HID controls. This means we cannot provide an� iAudioInterface2 �control panel. Apple also has not plans on adding this support.

iOS 15 Status?

As always, we DO NOT recommend updating to iOS 15 while it is in beta. Things are do buggy, and change so much during iOS betas that we don't try to keep up with them. We will have full compatibilty once iOS 15 is released to the public in its final form.

iOS 12 Fully Supported

iOS 12 is recommended for all users. All�Studio Six Digital apps are now fully iOS 12 compatible. If your app is crashing, please update to the latest version on the App Store.

iPhone XR, XS and XS Max

All of our apps will work fine on the new devices. We have just released an AudioTools update that supports iPhone XS and XS Max, please update to 10.19.

iPad Pro and other iOS devices with USB C

Apple has begun releasing products with a USB C connector rather than Lightning.� It does not seem like there is (or will be) an adapter that will allow the use of Lightning products with this iPad or future iOS devices which may have a USB C connector.

Because of this, and the presumed move towards USB C on all of their iOS products, we have developed new products that support these devices, and in fact all iOS devices with the proper adapter, as well as Android devices and Mac and Windows computers.�

Microphone Calibration Database

We have implemented a cloud-based database with individual calibration values for every iOS model, in all supported iOS versions. Now we can update calibration for new devices in real time, without requiring an app update. You may see messages about new calibrations being installed from time to time. Please let us know if you are experiencing any calibration issues, by using our Calibration Error Report.
